Native American Genealogy - Blood measure or Indian Rolls May Help You On Your Path

###Native American Genealogy - Blood measure or Indian Rolls May Help You On Your Path###

Many population want to know about gaining membership to a Native American tribe because they have determined or believe they have a Native American ancestor. Some population find a name on an Indian Roll that appears to be the same name of a family member. However, just having a Native American ancestor does not contribute any warrant of membership. There are at least 29 Indian Rolls and each of them was created for a definite purpose and use, concerning definite tribe(s). There are at least 564 Federally Recognized Tribes listed in the Tribal Leaders Directory published by the group of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs.

1930 Us Census Records

The Five Civilized Tribes are the five Native American Nations: the 1) Cherokee, 2) Chickasaw, 3) Choctaw, 4) Creek, and 5) Seminole. These tribes were determined civilized by Anglo-European settlers while the Colonial and early Federal periods. The Dawes Rolls contains the names of the personel tribe members of the Western Band Indians from the Five Civilized Tribes.

Each tribe has assorted requirements for obtaining membership and inclusion on the thorough Indian Roll for that tribe. Some are more restricted than others. The questions to ask yourself are: Do you have Native American lineage in your family? Can you prove the lineage, and if so, are you Native American by "Blood Quantum?" Blood part refers to the degree of ancestry for an personel of a definite racial or ethnic group -- for instance, 1/16 Eastern Band Cherokee. Dissimilar tribes have Dissimilar Blood part requirements in order to become a member of the tribe. Even a someone who can prove lineage and may have the required Blood Quantum, is not necessarily guaranteed membership. Some tribes have discontinued accepting new applications. Probably the best known Indian Rolls are those of Dawes, Baker and Guion Miller.

The Dawes Rolls Index is the Final Rolls of Citizens and Freedmen of the Five Civilized Tribes in Indian Territory (Dawes) 1889-1914. The individuals on these rolls are definite to the Western Band Indians of the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole. These tribes originated from the Native Americans who were removed from the East (1831-1838) -- also known as the "Trail of Tears."

The Baker Rolls 1924 was supposed to be the final roll of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. The land was to be allotted and all tribal members were to become quarterly citizens of the United States. The Eastern Band of Cherokee avoided the extraction that occurred in the middle of 1831 and 1838 by whether hiding or taking on the guise of other race. The Baker Rolls revised is the current membership roll of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians of North Carolina.

Guion Miller Rolls 1909 is the history of Cherokee Indians of all Eastern Cherokee, not old Settlers, residing whether east or west of the Mississippi. The Rolls were ordered by the Court of Claims as a consequent of a law suit won by the Eastern Cherokee for violations of distinct treaties.

The Eastern Band website CherokeeRoots.com provides a crusade motor for a first and last name. It will contribute some basic information if a name appears to comprise the Indian Roll where the someone is recorded. This site does fee for investigate of the lineage and to gather applications on file.

The U.S. National Archives and Records management (Nara) provides information for the Federally Recognized Tribes (1930-1970). Most records are arranged by tribe. The site provides information on how to order applications of individuals on the rolls. crusade "Native Americans on the archives.gov website.

The website AccessGenealogy.com provides explanation and information on Index Rolls and a list of tribes.

The Oklahoma Historical community provides a crusade motor for individuals on the Dawes Rolls for the Five Civilized Tribes. It provides the name, age, sex, blood, census card number, tribe and enrollment. Http://www.okhistory.org/research/dawes.php

Another site, 500Nations.com provides information on Native American tribes. It provides a map under "tribes" and lists tribes by state indicating state or federal status.

Dna testing is not sophisticated enough to prove Native American heritage. Federally recognized tribes do not enroll members based on Dna testing. Blood Quantum, if required, is determined by generation and proven/documented lineage. The federally recognized state tribes are more likely to need Blood part than the Five Civilized Tribes.

Native American tribes have been known to be a matriarchal society. The female of Native American lines would absolutely be the family member that continues the true bloods lines. However, as previously stated, the Blood part is based on generation, regardless of gender.

The Seminole explicate clans within their tribe as follows: Clans are matrilineal as they are inherited through one's mother. For example, if an individual's mom is of the Wotkvlke or Raccoon Clan, and the father is of the Hvlpvtvlke or Alligator Clan, that personel would be of the Raccoon Clan. However, this someone would also be related to the Alligator Clan, as a son or daughter. In turn, all other Raccoon Clan population and Alligator Clan population would be that persons relations, and would be referred to as aunts and uncles, if the age of a fellow clansman was relative to that of the mom and father; or brother and sister, if the age of the clansman was relative to that of the child him/herself. For more information access sno-nsn.gov and agree culture_history.

The Eastern Band Cherokee is a federally recognized tribe. Enrollment in the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is governed by Cherokee Code, chapter 49, Enrollment, and restricts enrollment to the following:

A direct lineal ancestor must appear on the 1924 Baker Rolls of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. You must possess at least 1/16 degree of Eastern Cherokee blood. Please note: Blood part is calculated from your ancestor listed on the 1924 Baker Rolls. No Dna/blood testing is performed or thorough for this calculation. You must be newborn to three (3) years of age or 18 to 19 years old.

The Chickasaw, which is one of the Five Civilized Tribes, has Dissimilar requirements: They contribute Cdib (Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood), citizenship and information to Chickasaws who are direct descendants of enrollees on the Dawes Commission Rolls. An applicant must be able to trace his/her legacy through bloodlines to an traditional enrollee listed on the Dawes Commission Rolls, in order to gather a Cdib. Required forms are available at the website below.

You Need to Provide

State-issued birth certificate with state registrar signature and state file number Death certificates Copies of court orders Recent color photos for persons 12 years of age or older

Other Information

The Cdib application is for applicants who want to prove their Chickasaw Indian blood. The application is a family tree chart that must be submitted with birth certificates or death certificates, and supporting documents if needed. It can be found at http://www.chickasaw.net/services/index_2288.htm

Once the application is received in the Cdib office, the investigate begins by finding up the enrolled ancestors on the Dawes Commission Rolls, which are the base rolls for the Five Civilized Tribes.

The Cdib does not make citizenship with the Chickasaw Nation. Once applicants receive the Cdib, they are eligible for citizenship in the Chickasaw Nation. More information can be found on the main website chickasaw.net.

Proposed utilizations include a near asteroid burst to ablate surface material and nudge the body to a safer orbit, or a direct sub-surface burst to fragment the body. For this latter method, previous estimates suggest that for times as short as 1000 days, over 99.999% of the material is diverted, and no longer impacts the Earth, a huge mitigation factor. To better understand these possibilities, we have used a multidimensional radiation/hydrodynamics code to simulate sub-surface and above surface bursts on an inhomogeneous, 1 km diameter body with an average density of 2 g/cc....

Despite years of research, the details of William Lee Conley Broonzy's birth date remain problematic. He may have been born on 26 June 1893 - the date of birth he often gave - or according to Bill's twin sister Laney, it may have been in 1898. Laney claimed to have documents to prove that. However recent research using the 1930 census suggests that he was actually born in 1901 (see below). The place of his birth was probably Scott, Mississippi, but Bill's father Frank Broonzy and his mother, Mittie Belcher had both been born into slavery and Bill was one of seventeen children. His first instrument was a violin which he learned to play with some tuition from his uncle, his mother's brother, Jerry Belcher. The family moved from Mississippi to Pine Bluff, Arkansas where young Bill worked as a violinist in local churches at the same time as working as a farm hand. He also worked as a country fiddler and local parties and picnics around Scott Mississippi. Between 1912 and 1917, Bill worked as an itinerant preacher in and around Pine Bluff. From 1918 to 1919 Broonzy served in the US army. Later, returning to Arkansas, he worked in clubs around Little Rock. In about 1924, Big Bill moved to Chicago Illinois, where as a fiddle player he played occasional gigs with Papa Charlie Jackson. During this time he learned to play guitar and subsequently accompanied many blues singers, both in live performance and on record. Bill made his first recordings in 1927 and the 1930 census records ...

Family Tree Maker, or Ftm, is a software package from Ancestry.com that helps you generate your own family tree. The newest version, 2010, has a whole of updates so that you can generate your family linage easier than ever -- whether you are a diehard genealogy researcher or just getting started.

1930 Us Census Records

Most in the field of genealogy think Ftm to be the best selling genealogy software in the history of this work. As with other genealogy software packages, researchers can keep facts collected while investigate and use it to make books, charts and reports. As far as Ftm's own origins, it was first advanced by Banner Blue, a company, and later purchased by Broderbund. After, it found a home at Mattel and the learning Company, before arrival to rest, so to speak, at Ancestry.com.

Currently, it's only offered for Pcs, and runs on Windows versions 98 through Vista. The software is not yet suitable for any other platform. The 2005 and 2006 software, as well as family Tree Maker Version 16, will work on Windows Vista. (Incidentally, Ftm 16 was nominated for Best buyer Productivity clarification category, for a 2007 CodiE Award.) If you wish to export trees, views or books to Pdf, you'll need an upgrade.

The 2010 version of family Tree Maker will best concentrate with Ancestry.com, so that you can import your family linage from there and consist of any attached photos, too. You can also fabricate photos and other types of media, and this version includes the potential to do slideshows. You can also make "family keepsake" books with the 2010 version, and you can look at relationships within the "family tree" context, from a so-called "new someone view." You can download online family trees from the website Ancestry.com directly into family Tree Maker, or you can merge the downloaded tree into someone else one, or start a new tree altogether. When you download family trees, they will consist of everything, images and facts, connected with the tree that's online.

You can also add family linage photos directly from the scanner with this newest version, and you can look at interactive maps and timelines that show important events and places in your ancestors' lives. You can also take a look at your ancestors' migration paths, so that you can see them; finally, the new user interface lets you switch seamlessly in the middle of "most often used" features.

You can import data from genealogy programs like legacy family Tree, the specialist Genealogist, and Personal Ancestral File. You can also add images and records from all those available on Ancestry.com and other sources on the web. This software lets you do reports and charts in a whole of formats that are faster with the 2010 version of Ftm, along with those in Ftw, an earlier file format in family Tree Maker, and the so-called "standard" genealogical database format, Gedcom.

If you want to "try before you buy," you can do that with family Tree Maker software, too. Just go to: http://past.familytreemaker.com/download/starter.aspx and download family Tree Maker software. The file itself will need 15.9 Mb of space.

As of October 2009, an online archive of historical pictures and documents called Footnote.com will digitize and put online all Us Federal Census data from 1790 to 1930. Footnote has interactive pages for individuals within the Census, so that relatives can notate, upload photos and of the documents, and otherwise personalize information. Ancestry.com also has Census data, but this gives someone who is researching genealogical facts someone else way to view these types of records, and also lets them enter data that could be helpful to others who are going to do the same genealogical research.

If you're just beginning out in genealogical research, the free starter version of family Tree Maker is a good way to get off the ground. It also lets you try before you buy, before you precisely make the financial commitment to buy the software. Online genealogy investigate and software have in effect "gathered around" F Tm software and the article databases in Ancestry.com. Because of this, Ftm has become the software of option for those doing genealogy research. Its 2010 version and free trial download are only going to make Ftm an even more important part of genealogy and research.

You might want to look up EHR's Please ask your congressman about this trial balloon in the Clinton Administration. This may be why the census wanted to know if home was free and clear!! Or if you were paying any rent.. Please spread this around so people know the kind of minds ...sick minds that want to go after everything you have. why not. right. spread the wealth.. This is an idea that the Clinton administration was working on when the Republicans took over. The concept here is to take people who are not in the higher income tax brackets and move them on up, so to speak, by creating income for them out of thin air. That way you can tax them more. The name for this artificial income would be "imputed income," and it would be fully taxable. Now ... for you homeowners, here is what the Democrats may have in store for you under an Obama-Pelosi-Reid Troika. Let's say you own your own home. You've had it for some time. Your mortgage payment is 00 a month. Homes similar to you in your neighborhood rent for 00 a month. The IRS will tell you that since you are living in your home for 00 a month less than you would have to pay if you were a renter, that extra 00 a month is actually income to you, and you should pay income taxes on that money. That would be an extra 000 a year on your taxable income line ... maybe enough to shove you into a higher tax category! And think what would happen if you owned your home free and clear? Bingo! 000 in imputed income! Fine ...

Here is a multiple-choice quiz question:

1930 Us Census Records

Which word best describes the typical working American today:
A) Overworked
B) Underworked
C) Energetic
D) Lazy

While much has been written of late as to either A, B, C, or D, is correct, the most accepted reply may well be: "None of the above." great social troops have the inherent to turn each of us into human whirlwinds charging about in "fast forward." Work, time away from work, and everything in in the middle of appear as if they are all part of a never-ending, ever-lengthening to-do list, to be handled during days that race by.

To say that we work too many hours, and that too much work is at the root of the time-pressure we feel and the leisure we lack, is to miss the convergence of larger, more basic issues. We could cope the longer hours (actually less than 79 minutes more per day) that we work compared to the Europeans. It's everything else competing for our concentration that leaves us feeling overwhelmed. Once overwhelmed, the feeling of overworked swiftly follows.

Nearly every aspect of American community has come to be more complex even since the late-1990s. Traveling is becoming more cumbersome. Learning new ways of managing, and new ways to increase productivity takes its toll. Merely living in America today and participating as a functioning member of community guarantees that your day, week, month, year and life, and your physical, emotional, and spiritual vigor will indeed be depleted without the proper vantage point from which to approach each day and guide your life.

Do you personally know whatever who works for a living who consistently has unscheduled, free stretches? Five factors, or "mega-realities," are simultaneously contributing to the perceptual and actual erosion of leisure time among Americans, including:

* habitancy growth;

* An increasing volume of knowledge;

* Mass media increase and electronic addiction;

* The paper trail culture; and

* An over-abundance of choices.

Population

From the beginning of creation to 1850 A.D. World habitancy grew to one billion. It grew to two billion by 1930, three billion by 1960, four billion by 1979, and five billion by 1987, with six billion by 1996, and seven billion en route. Every 35 months, the current habitancy of America, 307,059,724 people, is added to the planet.

The world of your childhood is gone, forever. The gift is crowded and becoming more so. Each day, world habitancy (births minus deaths) increases by more than 260,000 people. The Census Bureau reports the United States records a birth every 8 seconds and a death every 13 seconds while adding an immigrant every 25 seconds. The supervene is an increase of one someone every 12 seconds, hence 5 per minute, 300 per hour, 7200 per day. In a decade: 26 million.

Regardless of your political, religious, or economic views, the fact remains that geometric increase in human habitancy permeates and dominates every aspect of the planet and its resources, the environment and all living things. This is the most compelling aspect of our existence, and will be related momentarily to the four other mega-realities.

When Jfk was elected President, domestic habitancy was 180 million. It grew by 70 million in one generation. Our growing habitancy has not dispersed over the nation's 5.4 million quadrate miles. About 97 percent of the U.S. habitancy resides on 3% of the land mass. Half of our habitancy resides within 50 miles of the Atlantic or the Pacific Ocean, and 75% of the U.S. habitancy live in urban areas, with 80% predicted by the end of the nineties.

More densely packed urban areas have resulted predictably in a gridlock of the nation's transportation systems. It is taking you longer merely to drive a few blocks; it's not your imagination, it's not the day of the week or the season, and it's not going to subside soon. Our habitancy and road use grow faster than our potential to repair highways, bridges and arteries. In fact, vehicles (primarily cars) are multiplying twice as fast as people, currently approaching 400,000,000 vehicles, compared to 165,000,000 registered motorists.

Some 86% of American commuters still get to work by automobile, and 84% of inner city trip is by automobile. The mean American now commutes 157,600 miles to work during his working life, equal to six times nearby the earth. Commuting snarls are increasing.

City planners article there will be no clear explication to gridlock for decades, and all habitancy studies quote that our nation's metropolitan areas will come to be home to an even greater ration of the population. Even less populated urban areas will face unending traffic dilemmas. If only the gridlock were confined to commuter arteries. However, shoppers, air travelers, vacationers, even campers--everyone in request for retrial is or will be feeling its effects.

Knowledge

Everybody in America fears that he/she is under-informed. This moment, you, and every person you know, are being bombarded on all sides. Over-information wreaks havoc on the receptive capacities of the unwary. The volume of new knowledge broadcast and published in every field is gigantic and exceeds anyone's potential to keep pace. All told, more words are published or broadcast in a day than you could favorably ingest in the rest of your life. By far, America leads the world in the sheer volume of information generated and disseminated.

Increasingly, there is no body of knowledge that every person can be predicted to know. In its 140th year, for example, the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. Added 942,000 items to its collections. Even our language keeps expanding. Since 1966, more than 60,000 words have been added to the English language--equal to half or more of the words in some languages. Harvard Library subscribes to 160,000 journals and periodicals.

With more information comes more misinformation. Annually, more than 40,000 scientific journals publish over one million new articles. "The amount of scientific articles and journals published worldwide is beginning to confuse research, overwhelm the quality-control systems of science, encourage fraud, and distort the dissemination of leading findings," says New York Times science journalist William J. Broad.

In America, too many legislators, regulators and others entrusted to devise the rules which guide the policy of community take shelter in the information overglut by intentionally adding to it. We are saddled with 26-page laws that could be stated in two pages, and regulations that contradict themselves every forth page. And, this phenomenon is not confined to Capitol Hill. Impossible Vcr manuals, assurance policies, sweepstakes instructions, and frequent flyer bonus plans all conduce to our immobility.

Media Growth

The supervene of the mass media on our lives continues unchecked. Worldwide media coverage indeed yields benefits. Democracy springs forth when oppressed habitancy have a occasion to see or learn about how other habitancy in free societies live. As we spend more hours tuned to electronic media, we are exposed to tens of thousands of messages and images.

In America, more than three out of five television households own Vcrs, while the amount of movie tickets sold and videos rented in the U.S. Each exceeded one billion annually beginning in 1988. More than 575 request for retrial pictures are produced each year compared to an mean of 175 twelve years ago. In 1972, three major television networks dominated television--Abc, Nbc and Cbs. There are now more than 400 full-power independent television stations and many cable Tv subscribers receive up to 140 channels offering more than 72,000 shows per month.

All told, the mean American spends more than eight solid years watching electronically how other habitancy supposedly live.

To capture overstimulated, distracted viewers, American television and other news media increasingly rely on sensationalism. Like too much food at once, too much data, in any form, isn't indeed ingested. You can't afford to pay homage to every person else's 15 minutes of fame. As Neil Postman observed, in Amusing Ourselves to Death: social Discourse in the Age of Television, with the three words, "and now this..." television news anchors are able to hold your concentration while shifting gears 180 degrees.

Radio power--Radio listenership does not lag either. From 5:00 a.m. To 5:00 p.m. Each weekday in America, listenership far surpasses that of television viewership. Unknown to most people, since television was first introduced, the amount of radio stations has increased tenfold, and 97% of all households own an mean of five radios, not counting their car radios. On weekdays, 95.2% of Americans listen to radio for three hours and fourteen minutes. Shock-talk disc jockeys make 0,000 to 0,000 per year and more, plus bonuses.

With a planet of more than five billion people, American media are indeed furnished with an endless furnish of turmoil for mass transmission. At any given occasion somebody is fomenting revolution somewhere. Such turmoil is packaged daily for the evening news, whose credo has become, "If it bleeds, it leads." We are lured with images of crashes, hostages, and natural disasters. We offer our time and rapt concentration to each new hostility, scandal or disaster. Far more habitancy die annually from choking on food than in plane crashes or by guns, but crashes and shootings make for great footage, and play into people's fears.

With its sensationalized trivia, the mass media overglut obscures basic issues that do merit concern, such as preserving the environment.

Meanwhile, broadcasts themselves usually imply that it is uncivil or immoral not to tune into the daily news--"all the news you need to know," and "we won't keep you waiting for the latest...." It is not immoral to not "keep up" with the news that is offered. Any way to "tune out"--turn your back on the world--is not accepted either. Being more selective in what you give your concentration to, and to how long you give it, makes more sense.

Tomorrow, while dressing, rather than plugging in to the mass media, quietly envision how you would like your day to be. Include everything that's leading to you. Envision talking with others, production major decisions, having lunch, attending meetings, finishing projects, and walking out in the evening. You'll caress a greater sense of operate over aspects of your position that you may have determined uncontrollable.

There is only one party who controls the volume and frequency of information that you're exposed to. That someone is you. As yet, few habitancy are wise information consumers. Each of us needs to vigilantly guard against being deluded with excess data. The understanding of "keeping up" with everything is illusory, frustrating, and self-defeating. The sooner you give it up the good you'll feel and function.

Keen focus on a handful of priorities has never been more important. Yes, some compelling issues must be given short shrift. Otherwise you run the risk of being overwhelmed by more demanding issues, and feeling overwhelmed always exacerbates feeling overworked.

Paper Trails

Paper, paper, anywhere but not a understanding to think. Dream staring out the window from the fifth floor of a construction and seeing a stack of reports from the ground up to your eye level. This 55-foot high stack would weigh some 659 pounds. Pulp & Paper reports that Americans annually consume 659 pounds of paper per person. In Japan, it's only 400 pounds per person; in Europe, Russia, Africa, Australia, and South America, far less.

Similar to too much information, or too many eyewitness reports, having too much paper to deal with is going to make you feel overwhelmed, and overworked. Americans today are engaging at least three times as much paper as 10 years ago. The long held prediction of paperless offices, for now, is a laugher.

There are two basic reasons why our community spews so much paper:

* We have the lowest postal rates in the world, and

* We have the broadest distribution of paper-generating technology.

In a singular year, Congress received more than 300,000,000 pieces of mail, up from 15,000,000 in 1970. Nationwide more than 55,000,000 printers are plugged into at least 55,000,000 computers, and annually kick out billions of reams. Are 18,000 sheets enough? Your four-drawer file cabinet, when full, holds 18,000 pages.

The Thoreau community reports that last year, Henry David Thoreau, who personally has been unable to make any purchases since 1862, received 90 direct mail solicitations at Walden Pond. Under our existing postal rates, catalog publishers and junk mail producers can miss the target 98% of the attempts and still make a profit--only 2% of recipients need to place an order for a direct mailer to score big.

Direct mailers, attempting to sell more, send you article amounts of unsolicited mail. In 1988, 12 billion catalogs were mailed in the U.S., up from five billion in 1980--equal to 50 catalogs for every man, woman, and child in America. In the last decade, increase in the total volume of regular, third-class bulk mail (junk mail) was 13 times faster than increase in the population. The typical (overworked? or overwhelmed?) menagerial receives more than 225 pieces of unsolicited mail each month, or about 12 pieces daily. Even Greenpeace, stalwart protector of the environment, annually sends out 25,000,000 pieces of direct mail.

Attempting to Include what seems unmanageable, our institutions originate paper accounting systems which furnish temporary relief and some sense of order, while usually becoming ingrained and immovable, and creating more muddle. indeed accounting is necessary, but why so complicated? Because in our over-information community reams of data are regarded as a form of protection.

Why is documentation, such as circulating a copy to your boss, so critical to this culture? Because every person is afraid of getting his derriere roasted! We live in a culture of fear, not like a marshall law dictatorship, but a form of fear nonetheless. "If I cannot document or account, I cannot prove, or defend myself."

Attempting to Include what seems unmanageable, organizations and institutions, social and private, originate paper accounting systems. These systems furnish temporary relief and some sense of order. usually they come to be ingrained and immovable, while creating more muddle. These accounting systems go by names such as federal income taxes, deed of trust, car loan, etc. Sure, accounting is necessary, but why so complicated? Because in the era of over-information, over-information is used as a form of protection.

Of the five mega-realities, only paper flow promises to diminish some day as virtual reality, the electronic book, and the gigabyte highway are perfected. For the foreseeable future, you're likely to be up to your eyeballs in paper. Start where you are--It is critical to clear the in-bins of your mind and your desk. Regard each piece of paper entering your personal domain as a inherent mutineer or rebel. Each sheet has to earn its keep and remain worthy of your retention.

An Over-abundance of Choices

In 1969, Alvin Toffler predicted that we would be overwhelmed by too many choices. He said that this would inhibit action, supervene in greater anxiety, and trigger the perception of less leisure and less time. Having choices is a blessing of a free store economy. Like too much of everything else, however, having too many choices leads the feeling of being overwhelmed and results not only in increased time expenditure but also in a mounting form of exhaustion.

Consider the supermarket glut: Gorman's New goods News reports that in 1978 the typical supermarket carried 11,767 items. By 1987, that shape had risen to an breathtaking 24,531 items--more than double in nine years. More than 45,000 other products were introduced during those years, but failed. Elsewhere in the supermarket, Hallmark Cards now offers cards for 105 familial relationships. Currently more than 1260 varieties of shampoo are on the market. More than 2000 skin care products are currently selling. 75 separate types of practice shoes are now available, each with scores of variations in style, and features. A New York Times article reported that even buying leisure time goods has come to be a stressful, breathtaking experience.

Periodically, the sweetest choice is selecting from what you already have, selecting to indeed have what you've already chosen. More leading is to avoid engaging in low level decisions. If a tennis racquet comes with either a black, or brown handle, and it's no concern to you, take the one the clerk hands you.

Whenever you catch yourself about to make a low level decision, consider: does this indeed make a difference? Get in the habit of production fewer decisions each day--the ones that count.

A Combined Effect

In a Time Magazine cover story entitled, "Drowsy America," the director of Stanford University's sleep center ended that, "Most Americans no longer know what it feels like to be fully alert." Lacking a equilibrium in the middle of work and play, responsibility and respite, "getting things done" can come to be an end-all. We function like human doings instead of human beings. We begin to link executing the items on our growing "to do" lists with feelings of self-worth. As the list keeps growing longer, the lingering sense of more to do infiltrates our sense of self-acceptance. What's worse, our entire community seems to be irrevocably headed toward a new epoch of human existence. Is frantic, however, any way to exist as a nation? Is it any way to run your life?

John Kenneth Galbraith studied poverty stricken societies on four continents. In The Nature of Mass Poverty, he ended that some societies remain poor (often for centuries) because they adapt poverty. Although it's difficult to live in abject poverty, Galbraith found that many poor societies are not willing to accept the mystery of production things better.

As Americans, we appear poised to adapt a frenzied, time-pressured existence, as if this is the way it has to be and always has been. This is not how it has to be. As an author, I have a vision. I see Americans leading balanced lives, with rewarding careers, happy home lives, and the potential to enjoy themselves. Our ticket to living and working at a comfortable pace is to not adapt a way of being that doesn't support us, and addressing the true nature of the qoute head-on:

The combined supervene of the five mega-realities will continue to accelerate the feeling of pressure. Meanwhile, there will continue to be well-intentioned but misdirected voices who pick to condemn "employers" or "Washington Dc" or what have you for the lack of true leisure in our lives.

A faultless Self

We are, however, forging our own frenetic society. Nevertheless, the very good news is that the key to forging a more palatable existence can occur one by one.

You, for example, are whole and faultless right now, and you can perform equilibrium in your life. You are not your position. You are not your tasks; they don't define you and they don't constrain you. You have the capacity to reply that your life is finite; you cannot indiscriminately take in the daily deluge that our culture heaps on each of us and expect to feel whatever but overwhelmed.

Viewed from 2021, 2011 will appear as a period of relative calm and stability when life moved at a manageable pace. When your days on earth are over and the big auditor in the sky examines the ledger of your life, she'll be upset if you didn't take sufficient breaks, and if you didn't enjoy yourself.

On a deeply felt personal level, identify that from now on, you will face an ever-increasing array of items competing for your attention. Each of the five mega-realities will proliferate in the next decade. You cannot cope everything, nor is production the exertion desirable. It is time to make kind though difficult choices about what is best ignored, versus what does merits your concentration and action.
